I’m sure everyone has heard by now, that the wife of Owen Hart, Martha Hart, is looking to sue WWE. The WWE, along with Martha Hart, settled a wrongful death lawsuit, back in 2000.
The “current” lawsuit “alleges” the WWE and the McMahon’s used Owen Hart’s name and likeness without right in dozens of commercial videos and other materials, violated a contract restricting the use of Owen Hart’s name, likeness and wrestling footage, and disregarded Martha Hart’s wishes against further association of her late husband’s name with WWE following his death.
Now this is just my opinion. It seems to me, the only reason this is becoming an issue now, is solely because of Linda McMahon running for Senator in Connecticut. It seems to me that Martha Hart is looking to throw a “monkey-wrench” in Linda McMahon’s run for Senator. And not for nothing, but the last time I checked, Owen Hart was and still to this day, known as a public figure.
WWE has always honored the legacy of Owen Hart, and has never portrayed Owen in a negative way. With this becoming more and more of an issue, the chances of Owen Hart being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, is “slim to none.” Hopefully the WWE & Martha Hart will eventually come to some type of agreement, or this entire issue will be thrown out by the courts, or whomever is in charge of this matter.
I’ve always felt terrible for the Hart’s tragic loss of Owen Hart, and my thoughts & prayers were with them, years ago when the tragedy struck, but why deprive the fans and for that matter the future fans of wrestling know the wrestler, the man, “Owen Hart!” Fans deserve to continue Owen Hart’s legacy, as well as all the memories and lasting impressions, that Owen Hart left on his fans as well as his peers.
I for one, hope that Owen Hart gets his “due” and is not only inducted to the WWE’s Hall of Fame, but future projects are worked on, and DVD’s are released on this memorable person. Owen Hart deserves any and all accolades that come his way.
Again, the above mentioned, is just my opinion. Let me know what you think!
